They were standing by my car

Good Morning DearHearts,

A few weeks ago I went to the local office store to pick up some supplies.

It is well reported (mostly by me) how I have a tendency to feed every part of the animal kingdom that comes close.  It would seem my reputation precedes me in some magical way.

I parked my car and started to walk to the stores entrance.  I passed by a mother duck and her one baby duckling sitting in a sunny spot in the parking lot.  My first thought was, “Oh I wish I had something to feed them”.  I had some crackers in my car but not in my purse.

After I found the items I needed in the store, I looked at the snack items before I checked out to see if there was anything for my new “friends”.  I did not find anything but knew there were crackers in my car.

On my way back to my car I noticed the feathered ones were no longer in their sunny spot.  My guess was they wandered off to another spot, indeed that’s exactly what they did.

When I got back to my car, the ducks were sitting next to it seemingly waiting for me. Let me be clear, from their initial spot, they could not have seen me get out of my car.  I always park far away so I can “get my steps in”.  The question came to mind, why my car?  Had the ducks heard my thoughts?  Was there a better explanation?

A Course in Miracles teaches all minds are joined. Many might interpret this to mean the minds of two legged beings have joining minds.  This is a limiting thought and one that promotes the belief in levels of life.  Why should we support the idea that one form of life, as we see it, has greater importance and significance? The ego would have us separate one species from another and place a larger value on one over another.

The belief in one life form being superior to another is cause for the wanton cruelty inflicted on the animal kingdom in all forms. The belief in one ethnic group being smarter, having more potential or being more beautiful gives permission to behave differently towards them.

Selected conduct towards “one” over another continues the attack thought pattern that has been plaguing humans for eons. (I thought about using the term Mankind- but we can all agree kindness has become scarce in man and Mankind seems to be an oxymoron)  If I believe I am being attacked, my correct response must be attack back.  This is the decree of the ego based thought system. It is the justification for all worldly conflict.

In that moment of finding the ducks next to my car I had the experience of life forms being joined.  I could have said to myself, “what a coincidence”, but I do not believe anything happens by accident.  I believe the Universe is deliberate and everything that occurs has a reason.

The reason for this feathered encounter was to reinforce my belief in the Oneness of Life.

“All things that live bring gifts to you, and offer them in gratitude and gladness at your feet.”[1]

For those looking for an update about my book, it is complete, it is currently being edited and hopefully by mid July I will be searching for a publisher.  Anyone know of one?

Also, I continue to have the great joy of leading the Tuesday evening ACIM group at The Pride Center in Wilton Manors and the Friday evening group at the Unitarian Universalist in Boca Raton.  I invite you to attend one or both of these joyous groups, we laugh often because we are meant to BE HAPPY.
